MINDSCAPES
23.05.—30.10.2024

The Mindscapes exhibition brings together Safet Zec's works from
The Stone Houses
series with Ingbert Brunk's marble sculptures, creating a new mystical topography.

The Mediterranean stone facades in Zec's engravings stand resilient over time while Brunk's white sculptures, crafted from Naxos marble, acquire a timeless quality. The radiant Cycladic light transforms the marble into a substance that seems to float between matter and light, engaging with the interplay of light and shadow in Zec's works to create a unique poetic environment. Both Zec and Brunk use dark and light elements to reveal the depth of their artistic expression. Light, in their hands, is not just a technical element that adds dimension and depth, but a tool for creating a spiritual experience.

Their works are united by a common pursuit of a spiritual dimension and the contrasts they develop. Between light and dark, past and present, gravity and levitation, stillness and movement, subtle connections and interactions emerge. Through Mindscapes, a dialogue unfolds that reveals the complexity of time, memory, and human existence, inviting viewers to delve into this timeless exploration.

About the Artist.
Sculptor Ingbert Brunk, born in Dannenberg, Germany, studied Fine Arts in Berlin and since 1985 has been living and working on the island of Naxos, in Greece. He has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions internationally.  His works, crafted from Naxos marble, are characterized by their delicate textures and ethereal quality, and evoke a sense of timelessness and spiritual depth. Brunk’s artistry lies in his ability to transform a solid material into pieces that resonate with both visual lightness and emotional complexity. Since 2009 his studio has been situated at Azalas on the east coast of Naxos.
